The BEST core exercise you’re NOT doing

chiropractor atlanta - best core exercise

In this video I show you an EXTREMELY underutilized exercise to strengthen your core and prevent low back pain. This exercise is the Pallof Press and it's one of the best to target the obliques and the core as a whole.

    HI Dr. Guevara,

You’re the best! Your messages are so clear, concise and helpful.

I was diagnosed with an xray only that I had 2 herniated disks L5/S1 after finding out I had -3.4 osteoporosis in L4.

I am a mess. I hurt myself tucking my spine “under” and then swinging my arms around in a ball formation as a “stretch yourself young” video showed me. My god, I thought maybe I broke my L4.

Today I just stretched backwards like in your video from a sitting position on the couch and I feel better. The sciatic pain is on both sides now, down to my foot…I read that is an emergency to have it on both sides?

I live in CA or I’d be at your office right now. No doctor seems to really be the right fit for me. Surgeon not too interested, primary Dr. not sure what kind of MRI to order, PT confused because of osteoporosis/herniation combo.

Do you think I can do your stretches for herniated discs safely? Seriously, I feel better stretching outward instead of the lame inward, downward motion I did. I hope I didn’t break my L4, seriously.

Thank you for your videos, the way you communicate, you are the top of all the research I have been doing…for 2 months now trying to figure out how to heal and move forward!

I have an MA degree, but I feel like I am in pre-school when it comes to this.

You should be all over TV with videos.

I am only 52. I worked out with a trainer and trained 5x wk. until my Mom fell ill with a brain tumor. I quit my 6 figure corporate job and devoted the last 10 years until her death in July to her care, round the clock, 7 days a week. I was warned caregivers suffer but I didn’t think I would! I was strong. Now..geez. Drained my savings, 401k and selling my house short sale.

Can I be fit and strong again Dr. Guevara? I am never married, no kids and must take care of myself. Please, tell me I can do it!

    Thank you,
    Kathleen

      Hi Kathleen,

Thanks for watching my videos and I appreciate the kind words. If you have sciatica on both sides it’s not necessarily an emergency unless you’re in unbearable pain. If the exercises made you feel better, there shouldn’t be a problem doing them on a consistent basis and you can get back to your workout routine once you’ve recovered.

Thanks again for stopping by and wish you all the best in your recovery 🙂

None of the links in this article work. The best exercise you are not doing remains a mystery.

Ray, I’m not sure why you can’t see the video, but the exercise is shown above these comments

Copied link to chrome browser and was able to see video. Did not work withe windows 7. will try this for lower back pain. Been to phy therapy and saw 2 trainer showing different exercises that did not work but made the problem the same or worse. This side rotation is completely new and different than the things I was showed. So I will give it a good try.
