Melt away fat and build muscle with hill sprints

First there was Sweatin' to the Oldies with Richard Simmons, then came 8 Minute Abs, and then there was the Thigh Master.  Yes, there are many programs, diets, supplements, and gadgets that promise to burn fat and get you in shape.  Some of them do work but many of them don't and most are aimed at people looking for a quick fix.

Well I'm here to tell you there is one exercise that doesn't require a gym membership, does not require a lot of time, and melts away fat FAST.  All you need is a hill and mental toughness.  I'm talking about hill sprints.  Hill sprints have been around for a long time and professional athletes swear by them because of their difficulty, high intensity, and amazing results.

Think of hill sprints as a cross between sprinting and weight lifting.  You'll feel your whole posterior chain muscles (glutes, hamstrings, calves) burning and your heart will be pounding out of your chest, but the payoff is dramatic changes in your body composition.  Not only will you be burning fat throughout the day but you will also build muscle because sprints increase human growth hormone (HGH) exponentially. Of course, to reap the fat shredding benefits your nutrition is also important.

Because of the intensity of hill sprints, you only have to do about 10 sprints, two times a week.  This is enough to experience how taxing they are on your body.  The key is to keep your heart rate up and this is done by performing the sprints without too much rest in between. Sprint up, walk down, repeat.  The best part is that you'll be done in 15 minutes and you'll feel like you just ran a marathon.  Below you'll see a video of me sprinting up a hill at a park near my house.

Yes this is a tough exercise and requires some level of physical fitness, however, if you're just starting out find an incline and start walking.  As you start to build some stamina, add a jog, and eventually sprints.  Ready to start melting fat away at ludicrous speed and build muscle?  Give hill sprints a try and you'll never go back to boring cardio again.
